Richard Hills is the Labour candidate for Northcote. On Sunday night he sent a tweet, that I only saw yesterday afternoon.
This is a great tweet to see. It is true. Anything that gets people, especially young people, engaged in politics is a good thing. Disaffection with politics is a growing issue, there were over 800,000 people who did not vote at the last election. It is suspected that young people are over represented in this group.
Though I am not say that the only way to be politically engaged is through membership in a political party. There are plenty of other ways to be politically engaged and we as a society should do all we can to get people engaged.
