There is a debate to be had about the positive and negatives of a policy of printing money. There have been QE programs in the US, UK and EU for the last few years, but in NZ we have not gone down that policy path. There are some who have suggested it, and it would be great if we could have a reasoned debate about the pros and cons. But apparently the message that the government currently wants to run is one about pixies.
If all the parties are willing to engage in gotcha politics and not focus on political debate, there is no real hope. It may be a funny line, that I will admit I have laughed at in the past. But can we move on please? Or is that too difficult for the parties?
