National’s overseas voters graphic

One of the key themes of this election looks to be the issue of the missing million from last election. The million who were entilted to vote, but didn’t. The Internet Party are pushing the issue of a lack of youth voting. Rock Enrol are trying to organise a get out the vote campaign for youth, as are the CTU. I suspect we will be seeing plenty more graphics about getting enrolled, and getting the vote out as the campaign progresses.

National have come out with a graphic to help encourage people overseas to enrol:

Parties have a fine line to tread when it comes to running get out the vote campaigns. They obviously want to get more of their voters out to vote, but at the same time they want to maintain the appearance of being interested in getting as many people out to vote. Without seeing how other parties do this, using social media, I am not going to pass judgement on how well National have done on finding that balance.

I am looking forward to see how the parties use social media as a way to get out the vote as we get closer to election day.
